WRITING TASK 1:

The chart below shows what Anthropology graduates from one university did after finishing their undergraduate degree course. The table shows the salaries of the anthropologists in work after five years.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Write at least 150 words.

The pie chart illustrates the major causes of agricultural land become degraded and the table is showing the effects in the three regions around the world in the 1990s.

Overall, over-grazing is the main problem for degradation and other reasons are the less destructive with 7% only. Although North America is a less affected area, Oceania has no over-cultivation problem.

On the one hand, it is seen that in the pie chart the main reason for land degradation is over-grazing which is more than one-third of all causes. Furthermore, the second and third most reasons behind creating this issue deforestation and over-cultivation (30 and 28 per cent respectively) while 7% damages are being done by the other reasons.

On the other hand, in the table, we could see that three regions are being affected by land degradation. Here, Europe’s condition is worst than the others where 23% land has been degraded (9.8% deforestation, 7.7% over-cultivation and 5.5% due to over-grazing). The second region is Oceania with 13% of less effective land, on the contrary, this region has no effect on over-cultivation. North America which continent has less effect than all with 5% damages has been done.

In some cultures, children are often told that they can achieve anything if they try hard enough.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of giving children this message?

There is a common saying in some cultures that everything is achievable if the children work hard regarding the goal. In real life, this is a controversial topic and there are a number of advantages and disadvantages related to this topic.

On the one hand, the message, anything is achievable if children try hard, is inspiring to the children, and it makes the young people work hard in real life to achieve something. The good side is, it makes the new generation hard-working providing the message regarding achieving something. For example, the students who want to be a doctor or engineer, spend more time in their studies than their peers. Moreover, we people fix our future goal at the extremely beginning of our life and the saying push the young pupil to set these kind goals and achieve them anyway. Mental strength, Finally, is a kind of power that helps us out to do something special in our life. The saying makes our mental strength more powerful as it uses as a motivational speech.

On the other hand, every single people have their own ability to do something special in their respective field. The saying creates pressure for the people while we do want to be something else than our expertise field. In this way, the young people work wholeheartedly on the contrary finally they become dishearten and do not want to work anymore for their right sector.

In conclusion, the saying regarding the young children that anything is gettable if they work really hard. This saying has a number of good points while it has a few bad sides as well.
